According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/media\/ai-music-licensing-universal-warner-sony-92bcbc0d\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>, the majors are asking for <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/what-is-youtube-content-id\/\">Content ID<\/a>-style fingerprinting and attribution technology that can &#8220;track when and how a song is used.&#8221; This would allow copyright holders to be properly credited and potentially paid when their work influences or appears in AI-generated tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report also claimed that the labels want more involvement in what products companies like Suno and Udio build. Specifically, the labels want to \u201cbe active participants in the music-related products that the AI companies release, including having a say in which products are developed and how they work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suno and Udio have been sued by major labels for \u201cmass infringement of copyrighted sound recordings,\u201d with evidence suggesting their models can reproduce existing songs.
