{"id":104307,"date":"2025-04-30T16:13:19","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T15:13:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=104307"},"modified":"2025-04-30T16:13:23","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T15:13:23","slug":"spotify-q1-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-q1-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Spotify Q1 2025: How many people use and pay for Spotify?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">Spotify has just reported their first quarter 2025 earnings, featuring the latest number of subscribers, monthly active users and more.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotify&#8217;s just released Q1 2025 results shows off the music streaming service&#8217;s highlights. <a href=\"https:\/\/s29.q4cdn.com\/175625835\/files\/doc_financials\/2025\/q1\/Q1-2025-Shareholder-Deck-FINAL.pdf\">You can find the full earnings report here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/app.webinar.net\/0l8dJlMgAEV\">Spotify&#8217;s webcast Q&amp;A on their Investor Relations site.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of the end of last quarter, Spotify had 268 million Subscribers, <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-q1-2024-earnings-a-strong-start-to-the-year\/\">a 12% increase since Q1 2024.<\/a> In monthly active users, which combines both Free and Premium users, Spotify had 678 million, an increase of 10% year-over-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Subscribers increased 12% Y\/Y to 268 million.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Monthly Active Users reached 678 million up by 10% Y\/Y.<\/li><li>Total Revenue was up 15% Y\/Y to \u20ac4.2 billion.<\/li><li>Gross Margin improved by ~400 bps YoY to 31.6%.<\/li><li>Operating Income rose to \u20ac509M.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotify points out this is the highest Q1 Subscriber net adds since 2020, when consumption shot up during the pandemic. Operating Income is also at a record high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>The underlying data at the moment is very healthy: engagement remains high, retention is strong, and thanks to our freemium model, people have the flexibility to stay with us even when things feel more uncertain.
