With a historic \u20ac390 million in collections, SGAE hits a new high- boosted by streaming, international growth, and live music.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SGAE breaks revenue records in 2024<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Spain\u2019s leading collecting society, SGAE<\/a>, has announced <\/a>its highest revenue figures to date, collecting \u20ac390 million in 2024. This milestone marks an 11.7% year-on-year increase and the largest global revenue figure in SGAE\u2019s 125-year history.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of this total, more than \u20ac349 million was distributed to its 120,000 members- a great sign for its authors, songwriters, and music publishers. That\u2019s up from \u20ac329 million in 2023, making it the second-highest amount of author rights distributed ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is SGAE?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

SGAE (Soceidad General de Autores y Editores) is a non-profit collective rights management organization. It represents creators across music, audiovisual, and performing arts, working to collect royalties and protect intellectual property on behalf of its members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Streaming, live performances and vinyl drive growth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Digital was the fastest-growing revenue stream for SGAE in 2024, jumping 25% from the previous year. Streaming alone represented more than half of the \u20ac60 million collected from the digital sector. Audiovisual content such as film and television brought in 43.2%, while the remainder (1.3%) came from internet radio, downloads, and mobile ringtones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even physical formats made a 11.8% revenue increase to \u20ac3.8 million, largely driven by vinyl\u2019s continued revival<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Live performances<\/a> also saw a strong boost, growing 7.4% year-on-year to reach \u20ac48.7 million. SGAE attributes much of this growth to the success of tours by major artists like Karol G, Bruce Springsteen, and AC\/DC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International success<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

SGAE also celebrated a year of record revenues for foreign income, generating \u20ac35.3 million from abroad. This marks the second year in a row foreign collections have exceeded \u20ac30 million. When it comes to territory, the European market dominates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
