A volume normalization feature is now arriving for YouTube Music listeners on iOS and Android.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A smarter volume control<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

YouTube Music<\/a> has started rolling out a new \u201cConsistent volume\u201d feature on both Android and iOS devices. Designed to reduce jarring volume shifts between tracks, this update aims to make listening smoother and more enjoyable- especially when you\u2019re playing songs spanning a wide range of genres and styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This follows the rollout of a similar \u201cStable volume\u201d feature that launched on the main YouTube app in 2023<\/a>, and aligns YouTube Music with other major platforms like Spotify <\/a>that already offers an \u2018audio normalization\u2019 feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is \u201cConsistent volume\u201d?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cConsistent volume\u201d helps level out the volume differences between tracks so that louder tracks don\u2019t catch you off guard. While it won\u2019t flatten dynamics (quiet songs are still quiet, loud songs are still loud), it does reduce unexpected jumps in volume caused by differences in recording or audio conversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to find the feature<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Although \u201cConsistent volume\u201d may be enabled by default, you can manually enable the feature through the app\u2019s settings. Here\u2019s how you can access it across devices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
