Originally, the platform was set to be banned in January, but was <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/tiktok-75-day-extension\/\">extended to April 5th<\/a>, and now more time has been given in order to secure a deal and find an American buyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump shared the news on his social platform, Truth Social, stating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><strong>\u201cMy Administration has been working very hard on a Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made tremendous progress,\u201d<\/strong> he wrote. <strong>\u201cThe Deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><cite>President Trump<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>ByteDance issued a brief response:<strong> <\/strong>\u201cAn agreement has not been executed. There are key matters to be resolved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A deal was almost closed very recently, however <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-tiktok-china-bytedance-social-media-tariffs-665e46fd5bb555e97c4d7301e07230df\">Beijing slammed on the brakes<\/a> at the last minute as a result of Trump&#8217;s new global tariffs, which include China. Since then, China has slapped a retaliation tariff on the US, meaning negotiations between the two key global players are not limited to TikTok. This deal included a group of investors, made up of Oracle, Blackstone, Andreessenn Horowitz, and several others. Reportedly, the deal had the approval of every party involved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the extension, Apple has been told it can keep TikTok available in the App Store for now. US Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter to Apple and Google on April 4th, asking them to follow the new executive order.
