Drake accuses Universal Music Group (UMG) of trying to \u201ccreate a viral hit\u201d out of a song that made \u201cfalse allegations\u201d about him. Halfway through his set, he teased the diss track that has earned <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/not-like-us-1-billion-spotify-streams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one billion Spotify streams<\/a><\/strong> and won<a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/grammy-awards-2025-winners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong> five Grammy awards<\/strong><\/a> just last week. \u201cI wanna play their favorite song, but you know they love to sue\u201d &#8211; a clear nod to the ongoing litigation. Initially, he pivoted to a performance of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/2CGNAOSuO1MEFCbBRgUzjd?si=c25d503561be48a4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Luther<\/a>\u201d with SZA, leading many to wonder if legal concerns had silenced them. But in the penultimate song of the night, Lamar went all in and delivered<em> Not Like Us<\/em> to a roaring crowd. Notably, he self-censored the song\u2019s most controversial lyric, which labels Drake a \u201ccertified pedophile\u201d, while keeping in the double-entendre line \u201ctryna strike a chord and it\u2019s probably a <em>minor<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>A performance for the history books<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This wasn\u2019t Lamar\u2019s first appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show, but it was a record-breaking one as he became the first solo hip-hop artist to headline the event. The set was theatrical, opening with Samuel L. Jackson as an emcee, dressed as Uncle Sam. The actor delivered a tongue-in-cheek monologue as he called Lamar\u2019s tracks \u201ctoo loud, too reckless, too ghetto\u201d, before praising his duets with SZA, remarking, &#8220;That&#8217;s what America wants, nice and calm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside performances with SZA, Serena Williams also made a surprise appearance dancing on the stage. The performance climaxed with<em> Not Like Us<\/em>, before Lamar took a victory lap with his West Coast Anthem \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/0aB0v4027ukVziUGwVGYpG?si=0230a951f1d241ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TV off<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lamar\u2019s set managed to squeeze 11 songs across his discography into 13 minutes.
