The rise of AI-generated content is both exciting and concerning for real artists. Deezer’s new report reveals the extent of its presence.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Recent news from Deezer<\/a>, the global music streaming service, reveals that they have identified approximately 10% of newly uploaded tracks as fully AI-generated. The report helps to clarify to what extent artificial intelligence is influencing the music industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Streaming services have revolutionised the music industry, levelling the playing fields for artists of all sizes and means. However, the proliferation of AI music is alarming to musicians. So, what are Deezer’s plans to handle AI music on their platform?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the moment, Deezer have no plans to remove AI music on their platform. However, they do have an AI detection tool that detects these tracks, allowing for the report. The tool is capable of detecting music created by models like Suno and Udio, and will expand to detect AI songs from more sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deezer will tag tracks that have been AI-generated, allowing listeners to make choices for themselves with the availablity of both human and AI-generated content. Deezer will also remove content detected as AI-generated from their recommendation algorithms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does this mean for human musicians?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Whilst a significant number of AI-generated tracks are being uploaded daily, Deezer not that the vast majority of these remain unstreamed. This means that whilst a lot of AI content is available on the platform, it’s not necessarily impacting the streams on real artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deezer write in their notes: “Most of the daily delivery of AI tracks are never streamed on Deezer, but they are however diluting the catalog and may be used for fraudulent activity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key takeaway here is clarity<\/em>. By tagging AI-generated music, Deezer is empowering listeners to make informed choices. This move actually highlights the unique value and authenticity that human artists bring to their work. In a sea of potentially generic AI-generated tunes, the passion, skill, and lived experience poured into music created by human hands will shine even brighter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
