For the second consecutive year, the answer is none other than Wham!\u2019s timeless classic, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/2FRnf9qhLbvw8fu4IBXx78?si=3fbaafb4a0e4479a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Last Christmas<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Breaking records<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally released in 1984 by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, <em>Last Christmas <\/em>hit the top spot for the first time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.officialcharts.com\/chart-news\/christmas-number-1-2023-wham-last-christmas-makes-chart-history-andrew-ridgeley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">last year<\/a>&#8211; an astonishing 39-year wait! Last year\u2019s victory felt bittersweet for Ridgeley, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c9dp6y31qppo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cespecially pleased\u201d<\/a> for his late bandmate, who passed away in 2016, as Michael always wanted the song to reach number one. This year, marking its 40th anniversary, the track was reissued on CD and vinyl, propelling it once again to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.officialcharts.com\/charts\/singles-chart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">top spot<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This feat places <em>Last Christmas<\/em> in elite company.
