This move means fans of major African artists like Davido, Wizkid, Tems, and Lojay can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pulse.ng\/articles\/entertainment\/music\/sony-music-awal-orchard-take-catalogue-off-boomplay-as-royalty-issues-linger-2024120909365950896\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">no longer access their music on the platform<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boomplay\u2019s royalty issues have been ongoing, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmusicnews.com\/2024\/12\/09\/sony-music-boomplay-royalty-non-payment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">some reports<\/a> suggesting payments to rightsholders have been delayed for two years, and some claiming a backlog on royalty payments to 2021. Boomplay\u2019s focus on audiences outside urban cities made it a popular choice among low-income users, who are most likely to be affected by the economic downturn.
