{"id":101553,"date":"2024-10-17T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-17T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=101553"},"modified":"2024-10-17T12:02:49","modified_gmt":"2024-10-17T11:02:49","slug":"youtube-premium-lite-expands-to-germany-thailand-and-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-premium-lite-expands-to-germany-thailand-and-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"YouTube Premium Lite expands to Germany, Thailand and Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">YouTube&#8217;s previously discontinued cheaper subscription model is back in select regions, but what is it and will it expand further?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For $13.99 per month, YouTube Premium grants subscribers ad-free videos, offline downloads, background play and YouTube Music. <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-music-and-premium-hit-100-million-subscribers\/\">Earlier this year,<\/a> YouTube Premium and YouTube Music hit 100 million subscribers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>YouTube Premium Lite just focuses on the ad-free aspect of Premium, granting subscribers with &#8220;limited ads&#8221; and none of the other features for roughly half the price of Premium. &#8220;Limited&#8221; seemingly means banner ads, but no pre-roll or mid-roll video ads, however this is unclear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-premium-lite\/\">YouTube initially tested Premium Lite subscriptions across some regions in Europe in 2021,<\/a> before <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-discontinues-premium-lite\/\">discontinuing the plan last year.<\/a> With news of the price of Premium subscriptions increasing in select countries around the world last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-premium-are-increasing-the-price\/\">some users in Europe reported once again seeing Premium Lite as a &#8220;beta&#8221; option.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, after reports from users in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.threads.net\/@jonahmanzano\/post\/DBLncDhzYk5\">Australia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Piracy\/comments\/1e0450w\/youtube_premium_lite_rolls_out_in_germany\/\">Germany<\/a>, Google has just confirmed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/youtube-premium-lite-returns-3491193\/\">Android Authority<\/a> that YouTube Premium Lite is back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>We\u2019re testing a different version of Premium Lite and some users in Australia, Germany and Thailand may see the option to sign up.<\/p><cite>Google, via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/youtube-premium-lite-returns-3491193\/\">Android Authority<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an interesting move, as we thought the death of Premium Lite was about pushing users to the more expensive full-blow Premium option.
