While some create playlists to keep their genres organised, others use them to keep sonic snapshots of times in their life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately, most streaming platforms just don\u2019t make it easy to take those playlists with you when you switch services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few years ago, Apple Music introduced a playlist transfer tool through the Data Transfer Initiative (DTI), a project backed by Apple, Google, and Meta. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While engineers developed the tool to help users move their data between platforms (as Europe\u2019s Digital Markets Act. required), it only supports transfers between the likes of Apple Music and YouTube Music… excluding the most popular service: Spotify. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas Magnano and Benoit Herbreteau, two friends from France, have built Soundiiz to bridge this gap between Spotify and Apple Music, Now, you can move your playlists across multiple platforms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While working on an unrelated project in 2013, they realized they could build a playlist transfer tool using APIs from various streaming services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
By 2015, their tool got a major boost when it partnered with Tidal, helping people move their playlists from Spotify to Tidal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unlike the DTI tool, Soundiiz works with almost all major music services, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Tidal and many others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soundiiz lets you link your account from your chosen streaming service, select the playlists you wish to transfer and move them between services in just a few clicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Soundiiz offers a free tier… it does have some has some limitations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example, the free Soundiiz version only allows transfers of playlists with a maximum of 200 songs. Sure, this won’t be a problem for some but will be for others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, you can only transfer one playlist at a time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nevertheless, for those of us with playlists exceeding the 200-song cap, Soundiiz offers a premium plan for only $4.50 per month which removes both of these free tier restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, Soundiiz has helped millions of users transfer over 220 million playlists. And the platform ahs remained an independent project with no outside investment. Just two friends making something useful and cool. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In fact, the two founders have never sought outside investment – choosing instead to keep prices low and maintain control of their tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even though big streaming services like Spotify don\u2019t offer native playlist transfer tools, they are aware of Soundiiz. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
