Stream Spotify on the Google Home Speaker for free

With Google Home it’s as simple as asking “Ok Google, play Spotify” to stream music around your home, now it’s available to free users.

Google Home is the home speaker from Google using an AI that you can talk to as your personal assistant. Premium (paid) Spotify users have been able to stream music through the Home since it launched, but now free users can get in on the fun.

Streaming music through Google Home is entirely hands-free. Tell Google that you want to play music from Spotify, give it specific artists, songs, albums, playlists and more. All with a simple voice command you can skip, pause and explore Spotify’s giant catalogue of music.

Free users with a Google Home are now able to stream Spotify in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France and Germany. Spotify says: “This marks the first time that Spotify has been available to our Free users on a voice-activated speaker, and we’re thrilled to work with Google to continue to fill the homes of all our users with music.”

Spotify’s Product Director of platform and partner experience, Mikael Ericsson said: “We are incredibly excited that, from today, millions of Spotify’s Free users will be able to enjoy Spotify in their homes through voice-activated speakers for the very first time, thanks to the Assistant on Google Home.”
