Spotify’s serious about podcasts as they begin testing of a new feature that lets users start creating their own podcasts with one click.

Spotify wanted to make 2019 a year of podcasts for their service. The music streaming service has been exploring the new format more and more as it looks to take it’s offerings beyond their massive catalogue of on-demand music.

In the past year Spotify have done a lot to make their podcast offering a serious part of their service. They’ve been striving to constantly find and create more content, created a Spotify for Artists style analytics platform for creators, incentivised advertisers to make it more profitable for them and podcasters, and much more.

Their latest move is making it easier than ever to go from listening to podcasts on Spotify to making your very own. Spotify are testing a button in the podcasts section that will take users straight to Anchor where they can start creating their own.

Spotify bought Anchor earlier this year. It’s a platform that allows people to create podcasts easily and then with one click they can send off to Spotify and other major podcast hosts like Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.

Spotify told The Verge: “We are always testing new products and experiences to improve the overall Spotify experience. Some tests will eventually make way for upgrades to our product, others are only tests. We have no further news to share at this time.”
