Spotify have updated their music streaming and given everything, yes everything, a code so that whatever it is you’re listening to you can share easier than ever.

Today Spotify Codes was launched by the major music streamer, a brand new way to share all your favourite music. With Codes it’s as easy as taking a picture to go straight to a song, album, artist or playlist with each having it’s own unique, scannable code.

Similar to QR scanning, on your smartphone you can snap a picture from your friends phone to go to their music, share your own code for people to find you and your music, screenshot codes for future reference and… you get the idea. It can also work as a brilliant promotional tool with the ability to add Spotify Codes to posters or social media for fans to get a direct link to your music, including specific albums and tracks.

Spotify say that their Codes “present an innovative and exciting new way for artists, labels and brands to instantly engage with fans through Spotify. We’re excited to see the creative ways in which they are used”.

Spotify Codes are being introduced across both iOS and Android around the world today. To access Spotify Codes, simply tap on the “…” context menu and you will see a Spotify Code appended to the bottom of the artwork. By tapping on the Code-enhanced artwork you can also save it to your Camera Roll for easy and quick social sharing.
