SoundCloud have introduced brand new verified ticks to show listeners which profiles are verified as the official artists and separating them from Pro users.

SoundCloud have introduced verification for artists to show that they’re the real deal to listeners. The new blue checkmark will distinguish artists from any copycat or similar accounts and help everyone improve their listening experience with the certainty of listening to the true artist.

The new blue checkmarks have also been created to avoid the confusion created by SoundCloud Pro subscribers with a Pro badge next to their name. SoundCloud said that sometimes this badge was misinterpreted as verification and they wanted to distinguish official artist and verified artist labels.

SoundCloud creators can request verification for their accounts if they meet these requirements:

  • It represents a well-known and/or highly searched-for artist, collective, DJ, label, curator or podcaster.
  • It must be a unique profile. We do not verify fan accounts or impersonators.
  • It doesn’t contain any misleading information and adheres to our terms of use.
  • It must have a bio, profile photo and at least one track uploaded.

Some artists have been verified automatically by SoundCloud. If you haven’t been verified automatically, to apply for SoundCloud verification: log in to your SoundCloud account on your computer, head to your settings, and click request verification.

It may take up to 30 days for SoundCloud to review your request. Pro Unlimited subscribers will be prioritised.
