SoundCloud have named their new General Counsel following the recent departure of the streaming service’s COO and finance director.
SoundCloud have named experienced legal fella Merritt Farren as their new General Counsel. Farren will take over the control of SoundCloud’s legal affairs and public policy strategy including data protection, privacy, contracts, music rights and copyright issues.
Farren is stepping in to replace SoundCloud’s previous General Counsel Neil Miller who left earlier this year. Just a few days ago it was revealed that SoundCloud’s finance director and COO had both left, leaving a big gap for the service that is yet to be filled.
Before joining SoundCloud Farren worked at Amazon’s Audible.com as Chief Legal Officer. He also spent some time as Associate General Counsel of Digital Media and New Technologies at Amazon helping them launch various digital content and ebooks.
