The new Snapchat feature allows you to add music before or after snapping, with licenses signed with Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group.

Snap announced they are working on the feature and have licenses signed with major labels including Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group. The feature is currently being tested in Australia and New Zealand, with a wider release planned for the fall.

We’re constantly building on our relationships within the music industry, and making sure the entire music ecosystem (artists, labels, songwriters, publishers and streaming services) are seeing value in our partnerships. Music is a new dimension they can add to their Snaps that helps capture feelings and moments they want to share with their real friends.

The timing of this new feature is well planned, after TikTok lost India a month ago and is unsturdy in the US, with continuing talks between TikTok, Microsoft and the US Government.

Facebook are also ramping up music features, with official music videos on Facebook, as well as testing their true TikTok competitor Reels on Instagram.
