JioSaavn describe their Artist Originals roster as the “Netflix” of the music world and their new partnership with SyncFloor takes them further.

India’s favourite streaming service JioSaavn are working with artists personally through their in-house label and artist services in Artist Originals. They’ve just announced a partnership with SyncFloor to license their artists for use in media around the world.

SyncFloor are a Seattle-based sync licensing company set up by Microsoft OG Kirt Debique and experienced IP attorney Cestjon McFarland. Working with JioSaavn represents the very first Indian partnership for their catalogue of artists available to license through SyncFloor.

JioSaavn’s Arist Originals platform was launched in 2017 to provide a deeper connection with the local artists that they stream on their service. Through the label they release and promote South Asian artists and their new releases.

JioSaavn’s CEO, Rishi Malhotra, described their Artist Originals as “very much like Netflix having its own original studio, but in the music world,” in an interview with Music Business Worldwide. They work with over 40 acts spanning genres from electronic music to pop singers.

JioSaavn & Artist Originals director of A&R, Hiba Irshad says: “Since our launch in 2017, Artist Originals has grown tremendously, empowering a number of South Asian artists and bringing their music to a global audience. Our partnership with SyncFloor enables us to scale our ability to sync their music into major media properties. This visibility creates additional avenues for emerging artists to scale and be discovered.”

Artist Originals music will now be available to discover on SyncFloor’s platforms for media creators. Creators and producers will be able to license their music for use in podcasts, film, TV and more.

SyncFloor’s Kirt Debique added: “India has one of the most dynamic and exciting music scenes in the world, and there is a wealth of artists and songs to discover. Artist Originals has a great selection of trendsetting tracks that reflect this energy and contribute vitally to the music available in our marketplaces. We’re glad we can help more production professionals explore these tracks and find the perfect song to fit their creative.”
