Google Play Music & YouTube Red ready for India launch ahead of Spotify

A reddit user has released some screenshots that suggest Google Play Music is ready to launch in India now.

The screenshots, posted in an Android forum on Reddit by user Puneet-, show certain releases including an Adele track and an album from Indian artist Bajrangi Bhaijaan both with their prices listed in Rupees. Other Indian artists were shown as well, suggesting that India’s vast and brilliant talents are being added to the service.

It’s assumed that Google Play Music will also bring with it YouTube’s subscription service YouTube Red, as the two come bundled together in countries where YouTube Red has launched. Another Reddit user, pagla_kheer_kha, also posted a screenshot showing a notification from YouTube Red.YouTube Red Google Play Music India Launch soon music streaming video subscription

With YouTube Red bundled in the subscription package Google will have a better chance of breaking through in the country, where Apple Music has already launched and local music services like Saavn, Hungama, and Wynk are dominating. Assuming it’s ready to launch we should see Google Play Music arrive in India pretty soon, which should at least give them the upper hand over Spotify who are still yet to launch in India.

Google Play’s music catalog features 35 million songs and is available in 58 countries. There’s no news from Google themselves when the launch might happen or how much it will cost Indian customers but based on these screenshots we should be hearing news of the fact very soon.
