Renowned DJ Gilles Peterson, who gained notoriety on BBC Radio, is launching a worldwide, online only radio station next week – Worldwide FM.

The radio station is being launched in collaboration with file-transfer service WeTransfer, who are powering the site, and aims to “explore and tie together the shape-shifting diversity of global music”. The station will be led by Peterson, of course, as well as DJ Thris Tian who will both present shows on Worldwide FM. They will be joined by global talent like DJ Lefto from Brussels and Toshio Matsuura from Tokyo.

The station is expected to be up and running constantly from next week from September 5th and will feature regular shows with DJs and hosts, special guests, interviews, discussions, and live sessions from artists. Worldwide FM has seen intermittent streams from a number of events and festivals, primarily DJ sets by Gilles Peterson.

Website host and collaborators on Worldwide FM, WeTransfer, reckons Worldwide FM has the potential to become “the globally minded, online destination for discovering music”. They continue: “Paired with an experienced production team, with a track record of delivering award-winning content for both brands and broadcasters, ensures that Worldwide FM is well placed to grow into becoming one of music’s most essential online global music hubs.”
