We’re thrilled to be part of a new initiative and brand new label helping young musicians in Cornwall to make and release music.

The new Kevrenna Records is a new, online label that has launched in response to the struggles coming from Coronavirus. We’re acutely aware of how badly the lockdown situation has hit musicians around the world with the live events industry entirely shut down and so it’s our pleasure to be involved with this fantastic new initiative.

The label has been set up by the Cornwall Music Education Hub and is focused on the young people in our county. The label is helping young musicians get creative with challenges which they hope will inspire them to write and release music with their help whilst on lockdown at home.

The Hub is helping musicians who are creating to connect with producers and players around the country who can add instruments, vocals and polish for a full collaborative song. Then once it’s all ready to be heard we at RouteNote will send the songs online to be heard the world around!

RouteNote founder and CEO, Steven Finch says: “It’s great to be involved with the new Kevrenna Records project. Music education and the use of music and songwriting as a tool of expression are very important and something which RouteNote is extremely happy to support.”

All of the profits from the streams and sales of the music goes back to the students and they can choose to redeem their earnings in vouchers form a bunch of partnered companies offering great music equipment and software like microphones from Sontronics, Steinberg, Allen & Heath, and more.

There also be masterclasses available to young musicians to support them in songwriting and producing their music as well as a host of other resources to help them take their music further whether by knowledge or by facilitating and spreading their music recordings.

Local Cornish musician and songwriter, Ryan Jones, has been helping Cornwall Music Education Hub to bring this project to fruition. He says: “As I’m sure you can imagine, getting this platform designed so quickly has been a challenge.

“The site is still in the fairly early stages of development but we have decided to launch it as soon as possible so students can continue to access the high quality support of the Hub. I am also working on a community version of the project which will be launched very soon.”
