Tidal are taking a page from Netflix and adding video streaming in the shape of two new, original series planned.

Jay Z’s music streaming service Tidal got off to a tentative start but has since solidified itself as one of the major streaming platforms, especially since reaching a million subscribers last month. Now 8 months after Jay Z’s relaunch of Tidal they are expanding their service with original programmes.

Today the first five episodes of standup comedy series ‘No Small Talk‘ debut on Tidal with plans to release a new episode every Tuesday. The first episode is available to non-subscribers for free with the an effort to entice new customers.

This comes only two weeks after T.I. announced that Tidal had ordered a second season of ‘Money & Violence‘ at the Tidal X: 1020 concert. 12 episodes are being produced of the YouTube show and will be exclusive to Tidal for the first week of its release in January.

These 2 series aren’t Tidal’s first ventures into video as there has been a focus on exclusive music videos, short films and other videos for subscribers since launch. A free stream of their Tidal X 1020 show was also made available online for free featuring performances by Jay Z, Nicki Minaj and others, viewed by 3.3 million viewers.
