With its standout feature being HiFi streaming, TIDAL has up until now been a premium-only music platform. TIDAL announced earlier this week, it would be launching a new free membership tier for video content.

TIDAL aren’t new to video. TIDAL Access will showcasing some of the video content it has invested in over the years. Starting with four live non-stop channels, including performances, documentaries, conversations and spotlight. Spotlight will show off some of the best content the platform have produced from the past few years. Rotated streaming content will come alongside a small amount of on-demand videos.

Unlike many other music streamers free-tiers, TIDAL Access will not be ad-supported and will not have any music streaming features, instead focusing on upselling users to their paid platforms. This is a sensible move, making use of content they already have for promotional purposes. The feature will launch first in the US, with no word on further availability.
