Wolfmother have pulled out of some dates this summer, including some biggies like Download and T-In The Park with no more of an explanation other than “due to illness”.

The Hives are set to replace them at this years Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, While Killswitch Engage plug the gap for the organizers at Download Festival.

With no other dates for the band announced this side of the pond, and the updates not even on the official website yet (true upon publish June 2nd 2010)  it makes you wonder whether or not the band are taking some needed time out and going through get another line-up change.

Wolfmother have announced that the UK will be the first place they’ll entertain in the new year.

January 13th sees the Aussies begin their 7 date mini-tour in Dublin at the Olympia where they move on to Glasgow (14th), Newcastle (15th) , Manchester (17th), Leeds (18th), Birmingham (19th)  and climax in London (21th) . Tickets go on sale from October the 23rd via the gigwise gig guide.

The tour is the first big attempt to launch the new album in the UK, Just before the band head back home to support AC/DC on the Black Ice tour. Some dates for the tour are already sold out, gigs dates and locations are all available from the bands officail site.

Wolfmother are close to releasing their second album. The band were out in force last night (August 12th) at London’s Lexington Venue where they played a set that contained new material that will feature on “Cosmic Egg”, the eagerly awaited album number two for the UK’s favorite Australians.

The band seemed to be on a bit of a slope when two thirds of its founding members slipped off to create doom buggy (AUS), a side project that will now become a full fledged act. But the recent London event marked the first time fans could see the bands new line-up in the UK, and things for the band seem to look more positive. Along with original member Andrew Stockdale we saw guitarist Aiden Nemeth, bassist Ian Peres and drummer Dave Atkins.

No extra dates have been officially issued for in or around the UK, but you can catch the band touring all over the US from August 22nd continuing upto September 6th this year. 2010 sees the band touring Australia for February and March on AC/DC’s Black Ice Tour.
