Vevo Planning on Launching Vevo TV Channel Very Soon

It has been reported that Vevo is planning to start a TV network that would compete specifically with MTV’s music-video network, MTV Hits. Vevo CEO stated that they will offer a mix of programming, live events and archived performances.

The reports note that Vevo has no deals in place with any cable or satellite-TV companies right now, but they are collaborating with Web-enabled TV manufacturers, set-top boxes and other devices.

The service is expected to be part of Sony’s new HDTV set that will also incorporate Google TV.

“We’re partnering with the leading manufacturers, and the people that make the boxes that go around them,” said Caraeff.

There are also a lot of plans to make Vevo more user friendly and even allow users to create their own personalise Vevo TV channels, based upon their tastes, similar to web radio service Pandora.

Spotify on TV Screens in Sweden and Finland

It has been reported that streaming music service Spotify can now be accessed via TV. The service has launched its app for 120,000 of TeliaSonera’s digital TV customers in Sweden and Finland.

“Introducing Spotify into the living room is a major step forward in our continued efforts to make Spotify available wherever you are,” says CEO Daniel Ek.

The service can only be accessed by Spotify Premium subscribers, but now with access via PC, mobile and TV, the Premium service looks very attractive!

“Everybody loves music and even though many of us carry our favourite music with us, a lot of music consumption remains in the home. We believe that giving music fans the ability access Spotify directly through the TV and into the living room will attract even more users to the world’s hottest music service.” Stefan Trampus the TeliaSonera’s manager of broadband.

It is also rumoured that Spotify is planning their own range of mobile phones, but I would much rather see them get a deal with a few car manufacturers so I can access my music pretty much anywhere!

Disclosure: RouteNote is a Spotify partner.

RouteNote TV Session 4: Andy Bate

Andrew Bate can’t bear being compared to Jeff Buckley. It’s a huge endorsement of his musical, lyrical and performing abilities that he hears the reference so often, but the work, talent and feeling that go into his songs and shows are borrowed from no-one.

Andy is currently working in the theatre, writing and arranging dramatic scores at the same time as developing his career as a performing artist. Hopefully he’ll treat us all to an album soon, but until then you can find more of his music on his myspace page or through iTunes.
