Brandon Flowers Release Single – Crossfire

Brandon Flowers (The Killers vocalist) has just released his first solo single, which he released on his website last night. The track is called Crossfire and its from Flowers’ debut album Flamingo, due to be released in September.

Speaking to NME, Flowers said that some of the songs on Flamingo were originally intended for the next Killers album, but with other band members ready to take a break after a long tour, Flowers figured it was a prime opportunity to try the solo thing.

“I would prefer if this was a Killers record, although it would obviously be very different if I’d made it with the rest of the band,” he explained.

“We’re just at different places in our lives right now. It’s no secret that they’re ready to put the brakes on for a second. It’s definitely not the end of The Killers, but you can’t blame the others —we’ve been going non-stop since 2003.”

Arcade Fire To Release New 12-inch Single In Next Couple Weeks

Arcade Fire will be releasing a new single very soon. The band has issued a hand-written postcard message on their official website revealing that they are planning on releasing a new, 12-inch single in the next couple of weeks.

The group’s next album (might be titled The Suburbs) is possibly due for a June 1 release. But probably not. But maybe!

“Just finishing up pressing our new 12-inch,” the band declares in their digital postcard – humorously addressed to The Internet.

“Should be in stores in the next couple weeks. God willing.”

New Gorillaz Video – Stylo

gorillaz styloThe new Gorillaz album, plastic beach is out next week, and the video for ‘Stylo’, the first single to be drawn from was posted on YouTube yesterday – featuring an El Camino driving, sunglass toting, Bruce Willis. Bruce proceeds to chase the 3D animated crew across the California desert in a Mad Max style chase ending in true Hollywood style. We can’t embed the video, but you can watch it here, and check out the intro to their Plastic Beach concept below:

Simon Cowell’s Christmas No.1(s)

Christmas CowellChristmas looms, and with it the prospect of a new X-Factor winner’s Christmas No.1 – and as we reported Susan Boyle’s recently released album has broken sales records all over the place, selling 411,820 copies in the first 3 days, beating the combined sales total of the rest fo the top 5, and dragon-punching Leona Lewis from the top spot all the way down to 5th place in the UK charts. The big prize is the top slot in the USA charts, and given the amount of hype surrounding the impending American release, it seems like a safe bet that Susan will knock Jay-Z off the podium in time for the stockings to go up over the fireplace.

If we do get another number one single from the upcoming X-Factor winner, then the high-waisted hero of Sony’s catalogue will have guided not one but two artists to the number one spot; even though Susan dropped out of the X-Factor competition, she still signed a contract with Simon’s record label. If he can just face down the chagrin of knocking off a charity single (Children in Need currently have the number one single) then Mr. C will have a lot to laugh about this Christmas. Lady Gaga Tops UK Singles Chart for 2nd Week Running, But Does She Really Have Talent?

lady-gaga-lady-gaga-pictureLady Gaga’s “Poker Face” (Interscope/Universal) started a second week at No. 1 on the U.K. singles chart yesterday.

I recently saw an indepth interview with Lady Gaga, who has previously written songs for Britney Spears and The Pussycat Dolls before actually getting signed for her talents. Lady Gaga has always been very outspoken even stating that: “I will be at the top of music for the next 10 years”.

A promising beginning for Steph, as ‘Chasing Butterflies’ gathers online interest!

Chasing Butterflies

A hot new addition to RouteNote.com this month has been the “eagerly awaited” release of Steph’s ‘Chasing Butterflies’. The catchy, up-beat (strangely familiar) track is mainly recognised from its  radio and TV time for a CSL commercial, which aired in 2008. A release of the song had been insisted on by adoring fans.

“At last! This song has been stuck in so many people’s heads since it appeared on a certain TV advertisement last summer, and its kind of strange to finally hear the whole song. But worth waiting for. I really hope her other song ‘Beautiful’ appears on iTunes soon.”

“This artist is going to be another huge product of lancashire. I can’t wait for her second song to be released.”

If you like well produced, melodic, modern pop ‘Chasing Butterflies’ comes with high recommendations.
