Radiohead to Release New Album This Year!

Radiohead is one of the worlds most influencial bands and they are set to release a new album. Pitchfork reports that in an interview with the BBC 6 yesterday, Radiohead drummer Phil Selway mentioned that they are hoping to release their new album this year.

“’It’s genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this,’ he said, contrasting the sessions with the recording of In Rainbows, which he referred to as “a slog.”

“’Ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. It has got to; I hope so. We’re at the finishing line. When you’re making a record, a film, write a book for ages and ages you think the finishing line is miles away. Now it feels it’s in touching distance. But of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you’re nearly there. It might slow down. But yeah, hopefully it will be a matter of weeks.’”

In other Radiohead news, Selway’s first solo record, Familial, will be released on August 30, 2010.

Radiohead Leaks Their Own New Track To BitTorrent Sites

Radiohead

A couple of days ago a new Radiohead track was released on the internet, called “These Are My Twisted Words”. Until yesterday it was unclear where the track came from, but thanks to a post on the band’s blog it seems the boys could’ve had it planned all along, as they are now linking to the song on Mininova.

Today, on the band’s Dead Air Space blog, Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar and keyboard) seems to solve the mystery:

So here’s a new song, called ‘These Are My Twisted Words’.

We’ve been recording for a while, and this was one of the first we finished.
We’re pretty proud of it.

There’s other stuff in various states of completion, but this is one we’ve been practicing, and which we’ll probably play at this summer’s concerts. Hope you like it.

At the bottom of the post are two links to downloads, one directly from Waste and the other the original torrent uploaded to Mininova a few days ago. In fact, it was uploaded twice.

An enthusiastic commenter on Mininova exclaims: “OMFG! This torrent is being redirected from the radiohead official store, so there’s no album, just this song finished, this is very edgy, i mean thom yorke is way ahead from any other artist, at least we know he’s not doing his music to get some profit, at least not anymore, this is history being made, again, GREAT!”

Sounds like the first of many happy listeners.

Radiohead uploaded the torrent the old fashioned way though, seeding it themselves. Apparently they are well aware of the latest developments in the BitTorrent community, as they used the newly founded OpenBitTorrent tracker.

Coca-Cola’s Open Happiness Track Debuts Online

Coke first previewed a new album during Midem in January which collaborates members from Gnarls Barkley, Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco and Gym Class Heroes. Now Coke has properly debuted tracks in TV ads, while also being heavily promoted online and sold through iTunes.

A promising beginning for Steph, as ‘Chasing Butterflies’ gathers online interest!

Chasing Butterflies

A hot new addition to RouteNote.com this month has been the “eagerly awaited” release of Steph’s ‘Chasing Butterflies’. The catchy, up-beat (strangely familiar) track is mainly recognised from its  radio and TV time for a CSL commercial, which aired in 2008. A release of the song had been insisted on by adoring fans.

“At last! This song has been stuck in so many people’s heads since it appeared on a certain TV advertisement last summer, and its kind of strange to finally hear the whole song. But worth waiting for. I really hope her other song ‘Beautiful’ appears on iTunes soon.”

“This artist is going to be another huge product of lancashire. I can’t wait for her second song to be released.”

If you like well produced, melodic, modern pop ‘Chasing Butterflies’ comes with high recommendations.
