Guns N’ Roses made a very big impressions on Friday night at Reading Festival. Guns N’ Roses were booed and jeered — only to have have the plug pulled on them at the end of their crushingly disappointing set.
We have received a lot of emails saying that Axl Rose just look out of condition and was struggling to even sing! 80,000 disgruntled festivalgoers didnt hang around as the major headed over to the NME/Radio 1 Stage, where LCD Soundsystem were giving a lesson in how to headline a festival.
Grizzly, possibly pretentious, definitely idiosyncratic, not-quite-40 electronic wizard James Murphy is lining himself up for a year of pain. Having spent the last year and a half working on the soundtrack to Noah Baumbach’s new film Greenberg, and his own forthcoming album ‘This Is Happening’, he’s got a rather full looking touring schedule up on his website, including a lot of European festival dates (his UK shows are mostly sold out).
Let us fuel our excitement about these upcoming events by watching the newly released video for the first single, which is titled Drunk Girls. The album will be released on the 17th of May, and there are more odd videos up on the LCD Soundsystem website.
basically, we’re back. and going on tour in a few months. so we’re packing up our lives and getting progressively better at packing light and working with airmiles, etc. and i guess gathering gear and practice and all the other crap that comes with putting on this broadway musical called “lcd soundsystem” (jazz haaands!).
otherwise it’s the same. i (james) miss playing live a bit, which means it was a GOOD idea to take an extra year between these records. now i can finally get rid of that pesky life i was living and actually live from april on in either a bus, plane, stage or hotel room. sometimes i can go out to eat, too.
…
um, so… we’re going on tour.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a big LCD Soundsystem fan – hopefully I’ll be able to make it down to Sonar in Barcelona this year to catch twinkle-fingered mix master James Murphy, as he’s just confirmed that he’s playing there this summer (although it seems a long way from June, with road, rail and air travel all over the UK being shut off by ice and snow). Mr. M is looking very comfortable with a few post-Thanksgiving, pre-Christmas pounds added on. Obviously a man more after my own heart than I thought. Fear not though, January’s resolutions are bound to hold!
Just a brief one for all those who are fans of James Murphy’s (as I am). A new track, Bye Bye Bayou will be out on vinyl on the 7th of November, and digitally via DFA’s site on the 24thov Nov.
