Rammstien’s new album, more accurately the front cover, ‘Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da’ (Love is for everyone) has been deemed as “harmful” to young people and can no longer appear on public display in most shops across Germany.

According to German officials, the artwork offends act 18 of their youth protection act. The Office for the Examination of Media Harmful in Germany put pen to paper this week and the law came into effect on Wednesday 11th November (yesterday).

On top of this, Rammstein will not be allowed to perform song ‘Ich Tu Dir Weh’ (‘I Want to Hurt You’) live in Germany anywhere until the ban is lifted.

The album cover sees the band preparing a young woman (along with some vegetables!) for what looks like human stew, insinuating cannibalism. Or sacrifice in some opinions.

Below is the list of artists under the Syco Music label on Last.fm. There are so many here that I never thought would actually have been under Syco Music. However, I forgot that Syco is under Sony Music and most of these artists in the early days were just pushed under Syco Music before Simon Cowell actually started doing TV shows as his A&R instead of actually getting off his ass and finding the artists.

Now, the CBS-owned company’s plan to expand beyond online music programming includes video too.

According to Music Week, the company will launch Last.TV to online and offline airwaves starting in January and will initially include content from music festivals in Europe, “either through building bespoke events or partnering with existing festivals.”

Im sure that Last.tv will be music orientated programming, maybe even in a similar way to what MTV used to be! Last.fm has already got a very strong position in the online music space and this added with CBS will easily allow Last.tv to get the content deals required.

Last.fm is to takeover four HD radio stations off CBS in the US  including, New York, LA, Chicago  and San Francisco. All stations will have the same play-list, which will be determined by the outcome of the weekly charts according to the last.fm website, to feature a mix of music aggregated and influenced by the service’s user-generated weekly charts. Twinned with performances and interviews from its new New York studios. The new station will also be accessable through the website, as well as the already established CBS radio. Which is good news for fans across the pond as the new HD radio stations will only be accessible to HD radio receivers in the new areas: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco.

The broadcast will begin on October 5th, and as well as being able to find it through the named sites it will be available through the relevant related apps through iPhone, iPod Touch and some Blackberries.

Songbeat has launched a new version of their service which seems to be taking piracy to a new level.

It’s a desktop app that lets users search for music on Seeqpod, Project Playlist, Last.fm and other sites, and then download the files and import them into iTunes or Windows Media Player, or burn them as a CD. It’s free in its basic edition, which only allows 25 downloads, but users have to pay €19.99 for the premium version to download as much as they want.

This has to be illegal! They are now a company that is profiting directly from piracy. Not according to Songbeat: “The downloading of music is not fundamentally illegal. However, it lies in the hands of the user to discern whether or not they have the right to download the particular music file at hand.” Even Musically thinks this’ll end up in court.

Here at RouteNote we are always trying to find ways to improve our service. With so many new music companies appearing online, we thought it was about time we started to sign more agreements with them. Our most recent addition is Last.fm. Last.fm is a UK-based Internet radio and music community website, founded in 2002. It claims over 21 million active users based in more than 200 countries. On 30 May 2007, CBS Interactive acquired Last.fm for £140m.

RouteNote artists will now be able to opt in to Last.fm. Last.fm will be paying royalties at the end of every quarter, with the first available on October 31st. Royalties will be paid for every time your track is played by on the Last.fm site or off site using their tools.

How do I opt in? If you haven’t uploaded your music yet, then head over to Single or Album upload and you will find the last.fm in our retail partner stores. If you want to opt in with any of your current online tracks, then go to your My Content section, then edit each track, with ticking the box for last.fm in the retail partners.

We hope that adding Last.fm to our partners will help all our artists improve their royalties.
