sylfid f1An interesteing new VST, Sylfid-f1 is a VSTi audio plugin based on the physics of a string vibrating after the impact of a hammer at a certain veliocity, exactly as it happens in a piano. While not quite a novel approach, this is a step up in sophistication against other synths that are based on synthesising a wave from a given set of rules governing the audio waves themselves, giving a fully contiguous analogue of the sound(s) generated by the piano wire, the properties of the string being manipulable: that is to say, “you can change the material the strings are made of from plastic to metal, or adjust the shape and hardness of the hammer along with its position on the strings.”

The VST isn’t free ($150) but you can download a functional demo here that will work exactly as the full product, but will play random notes after a certain amount of time.
