Susan Boyle breaks Amazon’s pre-order record
Aristotle said “Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand and I can move the world.” Seemingly Susan Boyle had the lever all along, and once she’d stood in front of the dreaded Simon Cowell the world suddenly started paying attention to the unprepossessing spinster. Now her debut album has broken Amazon’s previous record for the most pre-orders ever, meaning that she’s number 1 in the album charts before her album has even been released. We’d like to think that there are some among our music distribution clients that are in possession of the same ‘lever’, and are just waiting for their place to stand. Eight months from now, after your incredibly successful fund-raising effort, and your appearances on Balcony TV and Later…, when you’re fresh from your festival run, and the album’s just about to be released, we’d be proud to have been a part of your success. We’re just about to go live with our Amazon ‘On Demand’ partnership, which will let you get your own CD’s made to order for sale on Amazon, alongside getting your mp3’s on Amazon’s download store.
