Spotify have announced their streaming charts for the year of 2015.

Over the last 12 months over 75 million people have listened to 20 billion hours of music, creating more than 2 billion playlists all on Spotify alone.

Spotify’s charts reveal that Drake is the number one most streamed artist on the streaming service in 2015. With 1.8 billion streams and 46 million listeners Drake has over doubled Ed Sheeran’s 860 million streams that won him the top spot last year.

Sheeran takes Eminem’s position as the most streamed artist overall on Spotify having racked up over 3 billion streams from fans over the years. Only last month was it revealed that Sheeran’s track ‘Thinking Out Loud’ had been replaced as the most streamed Spotify track of all time by ‘Lean On’ by Major Lazer featuring MØ and DJ Snake.

Meanwhile Rihanna takes the top spot for most streamed female artist globally, despite her upcoming album ‘Anti’ having not yet released. The Weeknd takes most streamed album of the year with his second full length effort ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’.
