Spotify are looking to help artists get the best sound out of their music with a business that sets people up around the world to enhance their music.

Today Spotify announced the acquisition of SoundBetter. It’s a unique, online marketplace that connects artists and audio professionals worldwide to hook up creators with skilled and talented people who can take their music to the next level.

SoundBetter has a community of over 180,000 artists registered to their network. It provides opportunities for both skilled audio producers who can offer their services and for artists and creators to pay them to enhance and perfect their content.

SoundBetter Co-Founder and CEO, Schachar Gilad said: “SoundBetter offers the most comprehensive global marketplace for music and audio production professionals for hire in the world along with a member community spanning 176 countries and 14,000 cities worldwide. We are excited to benefit from Spotify’s global scale, resources, and vision to expand our network and drive more economic opportunities for artists of all levels.”

Spotify are citing the purchase as part of their commitment to provide artists with the tools to “create, connect and grow their audience”. SoundBetter will be joining Spotify for Artists as an asset to ensure their music is as good as it can be before going up for streaming. However, for now they will remain separate services.

Spotify’s Vice President of Product, Beckwith Kloss said: “As we build out our tools for creators, we want to give them the resources they need to thrive. SoundBetter has the same vision. We’re excited that creators can generate income through SoundBetter, as well as benefit from its network of top professionals – from instrumentalists to songwriters to producers – as they perfect their tracks.”

Gilad added: “We’re really thrilled at the opportunity to take SoundBetter to the next level with Spotify. One of the things that kept us going through this startup rollercoaster over the past few years is hearing stories from artists who tell us we’ve changed their lives.

“We truly believe that with Spotify, we can make the number of artists who have such stories much, much bigger.”
