Spotify is planning to compete with Apple (with CarPlay), Google (Assistant and Android Auto), and Amazon (Alexa) with a new in-car music player with voice controls later this year.

The Spotify in-car player will sync with car stereos through Bluetooth — much like a smartphone — and include buttons you can preset to correspond with your favourite playlists. The device will support voice commands like those currently offered in the Spotify mobile app.

Hardware is a very difficult market to enter, but this product (if at a low price point) could speed up further adoption in the car, while also speeding up the decreases in radio listeners.
