Snapchat Trying to License Major Label Content from Universal Music, Sony Music and Warner Music

It has been reported that Snap is currently in talk with the major record labels to expand the ways users can include music in posts on its flagship Snapchat app.

Snapchat is obviously starting to feel the pressure from Facebook-owned Instagram and ByteDance-owned TikTok. Both services have been in talks with and signed major label content.

A license with the majors would allow Snap to integrate more music capabilities into its application and messages. However, it wouldn’t allow Snap to create a streaming service, which rival TikTok is planning on creating.
