Live Nation Moves Ticketing Service into South Africa

LiveNationLive Nation has entered into a strategic alliance with South Africa’s BIG Concerts. BIG concerts will now serve as the exclusive promotion partner for Live Nation in South Africa.

BIG Concerts sells more than 400,000 tickets per year, according to a news release from Live Nation. The 20-year-old company, which was founded by industry veteran Attie van Wyk, promotes concerts in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

“This alliance provides us with a world class partner to expand our global concert platform into South Africa as the region emerges as an increasingly important touring destination for artists,” Live Nation president/CEO Michael Rapino said in a statement. “This partnership is an example of the progress we are making in identifying growth markets to strategically monetize our tours on a global scale.”

Sirius XM: Online Radio Stations on Your iPhone

It was originally leaked in a company memo but Sirius XM released their iPhone application yesterday. Sirius XM for iPhone lets you listen to the online audio streams of Sirius XM’s combined range of programming on your iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, or iPod touch.

The app itself will be free, but you’ll need to be a Sirius subscriber ($2.99) for it to work. Unfortunately, certain programming available for regular Sirius subscribers will not be available for Sirius XM for iPhone.  Sirius XM Premium Online is available for download from within iTunes and comes with a free 7-day trial.

Vishal J: Breaks into iTunes Store Top 10 Electronic Songs!

Here at Routenote we are always pleased to announce the success of unsigned or independent artists who, against all odds, disprove the common assumption: the only career in music is with a major label.

Vishal J – a composer/producer/ programmer from Hesperia, California, US has smashed into the iTunes Store Charts Top 10 Electronic Songs for the US this week with his dancefloor masterpiece ‘Odyssey’. ‘Odyssey’ currently stands 5th in the charts above the likes of Daft Punk!

The ‘Odyssey’ Ringtone by Vishal J is currently one of the most popular ringtones in America. Along side tons of radio airplay the track has reached the top 50 of the iTunes Songs Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. Odyssey has the chance of becoming one of the most popular songs of the year.

Rumour has it, Vishal J is currently working on an album release so stay tuned!

Rock Band to Release Green Day Version of Their Popular Video Game

green-dayGreen Day has now committed to an exclusive for Rock Band, according to MTV Games. It is rumoured that the first installment will be a three-pack of songs from the latest release, 21st Century Breakdown, specifically “21 Guns,” “Know Your Enemy,” and “East Jesus Nowhere”. The action starts July 7th on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

Im sure there will be more tracks announced, but I bet they will have allt he classic Green Day tracks a nice buy it now price. However, it has been reported that Warner Bros. Records is focusing on the newer stuff, part of an effort to shift the incredibly energy from the mid-90s to now.

Why is it that the record labels just dont really get music and still dont really understand has to maximise revenues from new media.

Local ISRC Agencies

We have had a lot of artists ask us where they can get their ISRC codes from. If you are based in the UK RouteNote can provide you free of charge with an ISRC code, however if you are based in any other country you need to contact the organisation in your country who controls the release of ISRC codes. For most of these countries including the UK ISRC codes are free, so just choose the contact from the complete list below.

Tapulous Partner With Universal Music Group for More Tap Tap Revenue Games

tapulousWe are always  looking for new markets for our artists and the gaming market has been on a list for a while now. Tap Tap Revenge is one of the biggest games on the iPhone and Tapulous the makers of the game have an ever growing network. Currently Tapulous has released Coldplay and NIN versions of their game in which they sell for about $4.99 in the iTunes app store. Tapulous has now announced that they have signed Universal Music Group to their roster and will be soon releasing more and more versions of Tap Tap Revenge.

Tapulous chief Bart Decrem admitted that purchases of premium versions of the game were quite modest. However, Decrem has been scaling the concept through the delivery of free apps, a familiar startup model that mostly pushes the monetization puzzle to a later date.

Lady Gaga is rumoured to be the first artist from Universal that will get their own game and im sure it will be released at about $4.99.

It would be great if Tapulous actually released lesser known artists in their free game and even becoming a tool for users to find new unsigned and independent artists, while at the same time releasing premium versions of better know mainstream artists.
