After completing my Top 10 Dance, House, R&B, Indie, Underrated, Remix, and Other Tracks lists, I’ve collected up all my favourite tracks to create this all time Top 10 tracks from the last year in music.
1. Clean Bandit – Rather Be
Clean Bandit’s smash hit released way back in January spent four weeks at the top spot in the UK chart and has become an international hit, with over 189 million views on YouTube. This song has dropped in my rating since release, simply because of how much it was overplayed earlier in the year. Ignoring this, it get’s my top spot for the best song of the year and slightly wins over ‘Extraordinary’ and ‘Come Over’.
2. Mary J. Blige – Right Now
This track first appeared in September 2014. It’s combination of powerful R&B vocals provided by Mary J. Blige, along with Disclosure’s amazing electronic sound, provide a great overall track.
3. Kiesza – Hideaway
Released in April, not in everyones taste, you either love it or you hate it. Similarly to Clean Bandit, with 168 million views on YouTube, this song has been played again and again on the Radio, TV, Clubs, House Parties etc. but in my eyes has done an excellent job in remaining listenable. Also, let’s not forget the video… it’s a must watch!
4. Sigma – Nobody To Love
Having to choose between Sigma’s two number one hits ‘Nobody to Love’ and ‘Changing’ was hard! I then thought back to when I first heard ‘Nobody to Love’. Such an amazing track!
5. Lorde – Tennis Court (Flume Remix)
When going through my music library for remixes from this year, it was overcrowded with great mixes from Sigma, Wilkinson, Netsky, Friction, Kygo, Kat Krazy, Rogue, Snakehips, Bondax, Kove, The Magician, Overwerk, The Chainsmokers, Lido, the list goes on… there was one standout remix from an artist who never disappoints. This also wins my award for best drop on any track… ever! Released back in April it raked in nearly 10 million views on YouTube and over 17 million plays on SoundCloud! Good work Flume!
6. Ben Howard – I Forget Where We Were
After staying quiet for three years since the last album, Ben Howard came back strong with two singles and an album. Keeping to his indie folk sound, fans were not disappointed.
7. Ten Walls – Walking With Elephants
This is one of those great tracks that’s so powerful it doesn’t need a vocal part!
8. Shift K3Y – I Know
Shift K3Y made a massive breakthrough in April with the release of his single ‘Touch’. Although the follow up single ‘I Know’ wasn’t as popular sales wise, peaking at 25 in the UK charts, this one gets on my top 10 greatest.
9. Alina Baraz & Galimatias – Fantasy
If you mention the name Alina Baraz to anyone, they’re most likely response will be “Who?”. Fantasy is by far the most underrated track on this top 10. It’s gained over a million views on YouTube and 3.3 million on SoundCloud.
10. Mark Ronson – Uptown Funk (ft. Bruno Mars)
This is the newest track of the lot, but it’s 80s funk/soul sound sets it apart from every other track.
