My Top 10 Remix Tracks – 2014

When going through my music library for remixes from this year, it was overcrowded with great mixes from Sigma, Wilkinson, Netsky, Friction, Kygo, Kat Krazy, Rogue, Snakehips, Bondax, Kove, The Magician, Overwerk, The Chainsmokers, Lido, the list goes on…

1. Lorde – Tennis Court (Flume Remix)
Among the many remixes I have for 2014 there was one standout remix from an artist who never disappoints. This also wins my award for best drop on any track… ever! Released back in April it raked in 10 million views on YouTube and over 17 million plays on SoundCloud! Good work Flume!

2. Lido – Ain’t No Sunshine
Lido is a new favourite of mine on SoundCloud. He has a real iconic sound that I cannot get enough of. Mixing this modern electronic talent with some classic 70s soul is simply magic.

3. Iggy Azalea – Black Widow (ft. Rita Ora) [Rogue Remix]
The first 36 seconds of this could be misinterpreted as the original. It’s on the drop that this song just comes alive. This is the definition of trap.

4. Ed Sheeran – Sing (Wilkinson Remix)
This remix takes a little over a minute to really get going, but once it drops the energy keeps up till the end.

5. Stevie Wonder – Superstition (C2C Remix)
C2C are a four piece group that I only discovered this year. Each member uses a turntable as their own instrument, whether they’re recreating drums, guitar, bass or brass, to turn out something quite special! Not only creating original pieces, on their SoundCloud page you’ll hear some amazing remixes!

6. The Weeknd – Often (Kygo Remix)
Reaching further success more recently with his collaboration with Ariana Grande, The Weeknd’s R&B track Often, mixed with Kygo’s amazing tropical house vibes is a match made in heaven.

7. The Weeknd – Wanderlust (Snakehips Remix)
Snakehips is another DJ that hasn’t produced a poor remix. Every track he touches turns to gold… including last years remix, Bondax – Gold (the pun was too good to ignore!)

8. Calvin Harris – Summer (Westphal & Whyman Remix)
A remix of Calvin Harris’ Summer, sprinkled with summer vibes and let’s not forget about that saxophone!

9. We Are Castor – Eskimo (Savant Remix)
Savant recorded three albums this year, released two, with the third due out early next year, that’s not to mention the unreleased remixes online. The rate this producer turns out records is phenomenal! So he had to get a mention some where.

10. Foxes – Holding Onto Heaven (KOVE Remix)
Taking a pop song, inject some lively drum and bass beats over the top and this is the result. Brilliantly simple, simply brilliant!
