My Top 10 Indie Tracks – 2014

My music preference spans across a wide range of styles, one day I’ll listen to heavy trap remixes, the next I might be partial to some really chilled out indie tracks. Here’s my top 10 selection of indie tunes.

1. Ben Howard – I Forget Where We Were
After staying quiet for three years since the last album, Ben Howard came back strong with two singles and an album. Keeping to his indie folk sound, fans were not disappointed.

2. Paolo Nutini – Iron Sky
Fact: There is no limit on the number of times this track can be played and enjoyed. 5 years since his last album, Paolo is back in the game with the release of his number one album earlier this year ‘Caustic Love’. From the first single off the album ‘Scream (Funk My Life Up)’, comes this more down tempo indie ballad ‘Iron Sky’. Perfect!

3. George Ezra – Budapest
If you mentioned his name to anyone a year ago, it would have been met with silence and blank looks. Since the release of Budapest, George Ezra has risen to fame with his unique folk/blues voice.

4. Nick Mulvey – Cucurucu
Nick Mulvey’s soft vocals and clean acoustic guitar riffs are just so unexplainably good!

5. Jamie T – Zombie
After 5 years since his last album, Jamie T is back strong with his new album ‘Carry on the Grudge’ following his indie rock sound fans have come to love. Zombie is the first single off the album and it is no disappointment.

6. Strange Talk – Young Hearts
A great feel good, upbeat track from the synth pop band. Young Hearts comes from their first album released earlier this year ‘Cast Away’.

7. Saint Raymond – Fall At Your Feet
Saint Raymond is a singer-songwriter picked up by BBC Introducing last year, then in August 2013 was signed to Asylum Records. From then it’s only gone up hill with two singles and two EPs.

8. Twin Atlantic – Heart and Soul
Alternative rock band Twin Atlantic with their latest track ‘Heart and Soul’ from their new album ‘Great Divide’.

9. Dan Croll – From Nowhere
An amazing indie artist, his track From Nowhere gained more publicity after the Baardsen Remix was featured in the soundtrack to GTA V.

10. Kasabian – eez-eh
10 years after the release of their first album, Kasabian are back as strong as ever with this upbeat, dance track.
