It seems like the pricing wars of music subscription services is heating up in India.

It has been reported that Apple Music have implemented a huge price cut. An Apple Music subscription in India now costs just 99 rupees per month ($1.43 USD), versus the 120 rupees per month ($1.73 USD) it was previously.

Additionally, Apple will also be dropping the price of their student plan from 60 rupees per month to 49 rupees per month; and the Family Plan is now 149 rupees per month versus the 190 rupees per month it was before the price cuts.

Spotify and their pricing seems to be controlled purely on the amount the labels will allow them to charge in India. However, Apple Music will be able to discount even further if they wish and I’m sure they are happy to make a loss on each subscription if they are able to take further market share.
