Apple recently announced their new iPhone 6s and Plus models with new 3D touch control being one of the most remarkable features. With 3D touch the iPhone will measure the pressure being applied to the screen, a perfect addition for music-making app developers.

App developers will be (and have been) able to control the pressure they’re putting on, for example, a keyboard key for alternate levels of volume/effect/strike and more. Apple has already been leading the mobile music-making revolution with more apps, better latency and more compatibility with MIDI and instrumental inputs and this puts them one step further ahead of the game.

The Apple App Store has already featured iOS synths with aftertouch capability however these have all required a MIDI keyboard compatible with iOS.

Watch a preview of the feature being used on the bismark bs-16i app below and let us know what you think of Apple’s new feature in the comments.
