How to create a public Apple Music profile and follow friends

Here’s how to create an Apple Music profile, find contacts/Facebook friends and share your profile via computer or the iPhone app.

See what music your friends are listening to and show-off your own on Apple Music.

Apple Music is a premium-only music streaming service, so you’ll need a subscription or free-trial. Once you’ve got an account, you need to create a profile.

Mac/PC: create a profile

Open iTunes or Music, click For You at the top of the screen, then the profile picture icon in the upper right corner.

Click Get Started, then create a Name, Username and add a profile picture. Continue to Find Contacts.

Follow and Invite friends in your contacts.

Choose who can follow you and what updates you want.


You now have a public Apple Music profile.

iPhone: create a profile

Open Music, tap For You at the bottom of the screen, then the profile picture icon in the upper right corner.

Tap See what friends are listening to.

Tap Get Started, then create a Name, Username and add a profile picture. Continue to Find Contacts.

Follow and Invite friends in your contacts. Connect Facebook to find more friends.

Choose who can follow you.

You now have a public Apple Music profile.

Mac/PC: find friends

Open iTunes or Music. From here, you can Search for friends, using the search box in the upper right corner, the same way you find music. To find friends in your contacts, click For You at the top of the screen, then the profile picture icon in the upper right corner.

Click Find More Friends.

Follow and Invite friends in your contacts.

iPhone: find friends

Open Music. From here, you can Search for friends, by tapping Search in the lower right corner, the same way you find music. To find friends in your contacts, tap For You at the bottom of the screen, then the profile picture icon in the upper right corner.

Tap Follow More Friends.

Follow and Invite friends in your contacts. Connect Facebook to find more friends.

Mac/PC: share your profile

Open iTunes or Music, click For You at the top of the screen, then the profile picture icon in the upper right corner.

Click the three dot in the upper left corner, then Share Profile. Choose to Copy Link or text with Messages.

Open Music, tap For You at the bottom of the screen, then the profile picture icon in the upper right corner.

Click the three dot in the upper right corner.

Choose to Copy your URL to the clipboard or Share to bring up the share sheet.
