Deezer Has Seen Strong Growth in Podcast Streams Over the Past Year

Deezer has announced that their monthly podcasting streams has risen by 146% globally since 2017. This is a great growth percentage, but its a little pointless if you don’t know from what base (eg. 146% growth on a small amount is still a small amount).

Deezer originally launched podcasts on its service in May 2015, so it’s been offering this content for longer than a year. It seems as though podcasts have a strong place within streaming services and we are expecting this number to keep increasing dramatically over the next five years.

“It’s fantastic to see podcasts continuing to go from strength to strength this year, with the ongoing creation of captivating and original content,” said its VP of content and formats Chris Baughen. “It’s incredibly important to cater to listener’s demands and we are ensuring each country has podcast content specific to their own tastes and languages, such as our Deezer Originals.”
