Deezer’s Android app is now one of the few music streaming services to work with Android’s in-car platform – Android Auto.

Deezer have updated their app to work with Android Auto. Android Auto has found it’s niche in intuitive route mapping and easy to view updates but beyond Google Play Music has yet to see much love from music services. Deezer are getting the ball rolling by becoming one of the first third-party services that you can stream music through the Android Auto with.

Using Android Auto users will be able to stream ‘Flow’ radio, mixes, playlists and albums from the Auto’s interface menu. Unfortunately for free users streaming Deezer through Android Auto is only available to Premium+ subscribers. This isn’t Deezer’s first integration into car systems as they are available on most modern auto interfaces and are even in partnership with BMW as their primary music service.

Beyond Android Auto compatibility the update brings little new other than the option to sort mixes by genre and popularity. There are also a number of fixes for Deezer’s Chromecast support though no specifics were mentioned, just that there are “less malfunctions, more stability”. A known issue for some was that streaming to Chromecast would stop after playing an ad, a small annoyance but hopefully one that has been resolved in this update.
