Blink 182 arent just reforming after five years, but they are also putting out a new record and going on a UK tour. The UK is planned for July 2011 and already has five dates booked.

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavishas unveiled what he called the “best solar power system in the country” in the form of 1,116 solar panels fixed atop of the Worthy Farm cowshed.

Eavis has had the panels fitted to the roof of the shed which overlooks the festival’s Pyramid Stage. Although they will be used primarily to power the Farm, the panels can generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 40 homes annually.

“We had to make a major statement because we use so much power. This has brought us one big step closer to our goal of operating the farm as ecologically as possible,” comments Eavis. Any leftover energy generated will go into the National Grid.

The installation will also help to feed energy to Worthy Farm during the Glastonbury festival, which in 2011 will take place from June 24-26, although additional power will still be needed to cater for the massive consumption during the event.

“We’ve got the best festival in the world and the best solar power system in the country – so far,” he added. “We’ve got to keep pushing, trying to do more.”

Weezer have been receiving a huge amount of press for their new album Hurley. Today Weezer have just announced their “Memories” tour dates for the USA.

The band announced yesterday that they are going to reassemble for a one off charity show that band leader Trevor Horn, better known for his part in prog-rock band Yes and producing such acts as Seal and Robbie Williams, is describing as “the band’s first ever full live show.”

The ultimate one hit wonder band found huge international success after their single ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’ launched MTV in 1979. The song went to number one in 16 different countries.

The Manic Street Preachers returned to the live music scene with a private intimate gig at the Working Men’s Club in west London.

The band showcased material from their new album ‘Postcards From a Young Man’, which is due for release on 20 September, and played all of their greatest hits including ‘Everything Must Go’, ‘Design For Life’ and ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’.

Manic Street Preachers will kick off their UK tour in Glasgow on 29 September, playing shows all over the country.

Lily Allen is scheduled to make her final live appearance at the Big Chill Festival on August 5—and it’s a pretty good way to go out when you consider she’ll be performing alongside Thom Yorke, Massive Attack and MIA.

Its a bit of a shame how Lily’s music career turned out, but she is now reportedly going to open her vintage fashion store and is also planning to design a vintage clothing line that will come out in 2011. This is going to be a million worlds away from the music industry, but Im sure with her exposure already its not going to be tough to build the stores reputation.

Arcade Fire have promised to donate $1million Canadian dollars to a charity set up in the wake of the Haiti earthquake – as long the public match their amount.

Appearing at a gig in Quebec, frontman Win Butler said the group would match $5 donations from the public with a figure up to $1m.

Only 28,000 of the 1.5 million Haitians displaced by the earthquake in January have been rehoused, reports the New York Times.

Finally, we have a band that are chucking out money for the causes in a real way. Too often we’ve seen bands turn up for these big profile charity events, only to expect pay cheques barely smaller than the ticket sales. Bono Is my favourite pop star to slate that is guilty of this. (check out No. 12 on this list of wally’s). Let’s hope that this is not a one off and it starts a solid and worthwhile trend.
